A recent Freedom of Information Act request has revealed that the FBI
wants what it calls “food activists” prosecuted as terrorists, perhaps
because nothing could more terrifying than exposing where our so-called
food comes from and how it is manufactured.
Most Americans don’t really care where their food comes from or how
it is made. All that matters is that it’s cheap and tastes good.
Unfortunately for the food industry, not everyone is that stupid
anymore. There is a growing desire to eat food that is healthy and
produced in a cruel-free, sustainable way, stemming in part from the
efforts of the food activists who have revealed the brutal, unnatural
way our food is manufactured.

Doctors sued for creating 'Valium addicts'
Doctors are being sued for creating prescription drug addicts amid claims they have failed to follow safety guidelines published more than 20 years ago.
Lawyers and medical experts have reported an increase in clinical negligence cases by patients left physically and psychologically broken by "indefensible" long-term prescribing of addictive tranquillisers such as Valium, collectively known as benzodiazepines.
Patients taken off the drugs too quickly, leaving them disabled with pain for months if not years, are also seeking legal redress. Many say they were never told about the dangers of rapid detoxification, which can lead to seizures and even death in severe cases. Doctors have been accused of being "in denial" about the problem.
Experts have warned of a coming flood of legal action against doctors who failed to inform their patients about the addictive nature of some tranquillisers, currently given to millions of people worldwide. They are prescribed to deal with common social and psychological complaints, from exam stress to relationship problems and bereavement.

Subsequent measurements by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found levels of radiation in air, water, and milk hundreds of times above normal across the U.S. The highest detected levels of Iodine-131 in precipitation in the U.S. were as follows (normal is about 2 picocuries I-131 per liter of water): Boise, ID (390);Kansas City (200); Salt Lake City (190); Jacksonville, FL (150); Olympia, WA (125); and Boston, MA (92).

But what is a canola? Canola is actually a made-up word for a genetically modified product.
Canola stands for “Canadian oil low acid.” It’s (sadly) a Canadian invention and subsidized by the government. The subsidies make it very cheap to use, so almost all processed or packaged foods contain canola oil. Be sure to read the ingredients. Here’s why you should:
Rapeseed oil is the source behind mustard gas, and on its own it causes emphysema, respiratory distress, anemia, constipation, irritability, and blindness. But through the beauty of genetic modification, we now sell it as an edible oil.

Overeating may cause brain aging while eating less turns on a molecule that helps the brain stay young.
A team of Italian researchers at the Catholic University of Sacred Heart in Rome have discovered that this molecule, called CREB1, is triggered by "caloric restriction" (low caloric diet) in the brain of mice. They found that CREB1 activates many genes linked to longevity and to the proper functioning of the brain.
This work was led by Giovambattista Pani, researcher at the Institute of General Pathology, Faculty of Medicine at the Catholic University of Sacred Heart in Rome, directed by Professor Achille Cittadini, in collaboration with Professor Claudio Grassi of the Institute of Human Physiology. The research appears this week in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).
"Our hope is to find a way to activate CREB1, for example through new drugs, so to keep the brain young without the need of a strict diet," Dr Pani said.
Caloric restriction means the animals can only eat up to 70 percent of the food they consume normally, and is a known experimental way to extend life, as seen in many experimental models. Typically, caloric-restricted mice do not become obese and don't develop diabetes; moreover they show greater cognitive performance and memory, are less aggressive. Furthermore they do not develop, if not much later, Alzheimer's disease and with less severe symptoms than in overfed animals.
Many studies suggest that obesity is bad for our brain, slows it down, causes early brain aging, making it susceptible to diseases typical of older people as the Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. In contrast, caloric restriction keeps the brain young. Nevertheless, the precise molecular mechanism behind the positive effects of an hypocaloric diet on the brain remained unknown till now.

Despite the almost universal clinical observation that inflammation of the gut is frequently associated with inflammation of the joints and vice versa, the nature of this relationship remains elusive. In the present review, we provide evidence for how the interaction of dietary lectins with enterocytes and lymphocytes may facilitate the translocation of both dietary and gut-derived pathogenic antigens to peripheral tissues, which in turn causes persistent peripheral antigenic stimulation. Ingenetically susceptible individuals, this antigenic stimulation may ultimately result in the expression of overt rheumatoid arthritis (RA) via molecular mimicry, a process whereby foreign peptides, similar in structure to endogenous peptides, may cause antibodies or T-lymphocytes to cross-react with both foreign and endogenous peptides and thereby break immunological tolerance. By eliminating dietary elements, particularly lectins, which adversely influence both enterocyte and lymphocyte structure and function, it is proposed that the peripheral antigenic stimulus (both pathogenic and dietary) will be reduced and thereby result in a diminution of disease symptoms in certain patients with RA.

Molecular mimicry is not a new concept. In layman’s terms, this process can be explained as such. The chemicals in food are similar to the chemicals found in the body. For example – a gluten protein might be similar to a protein found in your cartilage. In a letter to Colorado public health
officials, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS)
opposes a rule requiring workers in health care facilities to have an
annual influenza vaccination or lose their jobs. Workers who had a rare
religious or medical exemption would be required to wear a mask in
patient care areas from November through March.
The religious exemption is too narrowly
drawn, AAPS writes, and should be a philosophical exemption, as accepted
in many states, to “to avoid inquisitions into matters of faith.” The
mask requirement “seems to be nothing more than a punitive retaliation
against those who decline the vaccine” and should be dropped, the AAPS
letter states, as both immunized and nonimmunized individuals can
transmit influenza or other illnesses.
The New Mexico study cited in support of
the policy shows a tiny effect: an adjusted odds ratio of only 0.97 for
confirmed influenza “outbreaks” (at least one case) in residents of
long-term care facilities where 60% of direct-care workers were
immunized compared with facilities with a 51% immunization rate. This
means that in facilities where more workers were immunized, residents
were still 97% as likely to get influenza. “Many other factors could
account for the small difference,” states AAPS executive director Jane
Orient, M.D.
In the age of “evidence-based medicine,”
AAPS notes that there is surprisingly little evidence supporting the
efficacy of influenza vaccine, and evidence of safety is also scant.
According to a 2006 article in the British Medical Journal by Tom

the coordinator of the vaccines section of the Cochrane Collaboration,
safety data are reported in only five randomized studies with 2,963

How to Drink Bicarbonate of Soda for Health
Bicarbonate of soda, better
known as baking soda or sodium bicarbonate, has numerous uses--it's a
cleaning agent, antacid, fire extinguisher and more. There also are
interesting health benefits when you drink baking soda, which is
alkaline, in water. Viruses and diseases such as colds, flu, cancer and
even heart disease thrive in an acidic body, but cannot survive when
your body is alkaline. The 2009 Journal of the American Society of
Nephrology revealed a study of 134 patients with advanced kidney
disease. Taking baking soda daily dramatically slowed down the
progression of kidney disease, resulting in no need for dialysis.

- To increase your body's pH, take
1/4 tsp. of baking soda dissolved in one-half glass of water on an
empty stomach, once in the morning and again before bedtime. Acidity
and alkalinity is measured by pH, which ranges from 0 to 14 with 7.0
being neutral; a pH above 7.0 is alkaline, and below 7.0 is acidic.
Baking soda has the highest pH of 14. Create a healthy body by keeping
your body's pH between 7.1 and 7.5.

Drink the baking soda and water solution at the very beginning of cold or flu symptoms, such as a runny nose or sneezing, to help kill the viruses. Keep your body alkaline by increasing fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet.

If you're an athlete, swallow sodium bicarbonate supplements with water to buffer lactic acid buildup and improve your exercise performance. Ingest 0.3 g of sodium bicarbonate per 2.2 lb. of body weight, one to two hours before the event, drinking plenty of water.

Drink a glass of water with a half lemon or lime squeezed into it twice daily if you are unable to take baking soda and water. Lemons and limes are acidic but become alkaline in your body, raising your alkalinity almost as well as baking soda.

- Test your saliva or urine pH levels inexpensively with litmus paper, the pink and blue strips you may remember from high school science class. Find them at drug stores or consider purchasing pH devices.
- Do not take baking powder--baking powder is not the same thing as baking soda or bicarbonate of soda. Baking powder contains some baking soda and other ingredients such as aluminum, which is harmful to your body.
- Avoid drinking anything with bicarbonate of soda if you're on a sodium-restricted diet or have high blood pressure, unless directed by your doctor.
- Ask your doctor before taking baking soda if you're on prescription drugs.
- Do not give baking soda with water to children younger than 5.
- Do not take this baking soda/water solution if you're stomach is full from eating.
- Check with your sports coach before taking sodium bicarbonate supplements before an event, to make sure it's acceptable.

Feds crack down on homeopathic weight loss remedy
WASHINGTON
(AP) -- Federal regulators are ordering several companies to stop
selling an unproven weight loss remedy that uses protein from the human
placenta.
The Food and Drug Administration
issued warning letters to seven companies that sell the protein as
drops, pellets or sprays. Human chorionic gonadotropin is produced by
the placenta and found in the urine of pregnant women. While it is
approved for certain infertility treatments, the FDA says there is no
evidence it helps reduce weight.
Many of the
products cited in the warning letters claim to change "abnormal eating
patterns," and help people lose 20 to 30 pounds in as little as a month
when used with a low-calorie diet, usually around 500 calories per day.

Flu Vaccine Worsens Flu-Fighting & Cancer-Fighting Immunity in Children
While the study group is rather small, it involves highly advanced scientific evaluation of the immune system. The researchers collected blood from 27 healthy, unvaccinated children with an average age of 6 years old, and 14 children with cystic fibrosis who received an annual flu shot. The unvaccinated children were found to have a superior immune response, giving them broader protection against what they might face in an actual flu season, including pandemic strains.
The researchers found that the CD4 T helper cell response to the flu influenza A was present in both the unvaccinated and vaccinated children. On the one hand this means that in healthy children a vaccine was not needed to elicit a T helper cell response to the flu. Such helper cells coordinate the higher-powered adaptive immune response so that antibodies can destroy the virus. On the other hand it means that the T helper cell response in children with respiratory disease was comparable to the healthy children, potentially offering them some protection against whatever viral strains happened to be in the flu vaccine.

much sugar does the average person consume? How does this affect their
health? Increasingly it is being recognized that the substantial level

Candy is cunningly advertised to our children, while boasting the largest amounts of sugar. Nearly everywhere you look, a typical consumer-marketed food product contains some amount of sugar. It’s almost impossible to escape it in its myriad of forms, and the conventional artificial sweetener alternatives like aspartame and sucralose are even more unhealthy.
To make matters worse, a growing body of research has found fructose to be as addictive as cocaine.
Most people aren’t even satisfied when they consume these foods. The sweetness of a high sugar content food or drink often provides temporary energy, but no lasting satisfaction or nutritional intake. The body uses a large amount of energy and resources to properly process sugar, and the more you consume, the longer it be exerting this energy. This process may prevent your body from performing optimally, leading you to feel sluggish and tired when consuming sugar-laden foods with no real nutritional substance all day long.
The disturbing aspect is that if nothing changes, the rampant sugar consumption continues, and cumulatively begins bearing down on the wellness of an individual in the form of diseases like diabetes and cancer. Just how much sugar are you consuming on a daily basis? Keep in mind that the recommended amount of sugar to consume on a daily basis is 25g.

CDC ADMITS NOT A SINGLE PERSON HAS DIED FROM CONSUMING RAW MILK PRODUCTS IN 11 YEARS
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) refuses to acknowledge that, based on all available statistics, raw milk produced on clean, small-scale farms is actually far safer than pasteurized milk from factory farms. But the agency did admit earlier this year, after being pressed and warned of a potential Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request if it failed to comply, that not a single person has died from raw milk consumption in over a decade.
This may come as a shock to some who, because of all the propaganda about the alleged dangers of raw milk, are convinced otherwise, but it is true -- one of the two deaths often cited by the CDC as evidence that raw milk is dangerous was actually linked to the consumption of raw queso fresco cheese, which is currently outlawed by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). And the other is likely linked to an adulterated raw milk product as well, rather than to raw milk.
After repeatedly petitioning the CDC for clarification about its questionable raw milk statistics and getting nowhere, Mark McAfee, owner of Organic Pastures Dairy Company (OPDC) in California, finally threatened to file a FOIA request to get to the truth. Shortly thereafter, he received a response from an unidentified official at the CDC's information office explaining that the one "raw milk" death that occurred between 1998 and 2008 was actually linked to illegal raw queso fresco cheese.
The agency has not yet provided details about the other death, but it is likely that it, too, was linked to some adulterated raw milk product rather than to raw milk itself. If and when the agency finally fesses up to the truth about that case, it will also be inadvertently admitting that it has lied to the public for many years about the nature of raw milk.
The CDC's continual avoidance of talking about the much worse dangers associated with pasteurized milk further illustrates its raw milk bias. In 2006 alone, there were at least 1,300 people who got sick from pasteurized milk just in California -- and yet the CDC only talks about the roughly 39 reported illnesses every year in the Golden State that are alleged, but not necessarily proven to be, linked to raw milk.

Baxter, same company that unleashed tainted avian flu vaccines, recalls 300,000 flu vaccines for serious adverse reactions

(NaturalNews) Baxter Healthcare Corp. has announced it is recalling roughly 300,000 doses of its Preflucel influenza vaccine due to what it says is an excessive number of adverse events. The UK'sDaily Mailreports that a high number of individuals injected with an apparently tainted batch of Preflucel have been reporting side effects like fatigue, muscle pain, and headaches. The vaccine, which was crafted specifically for those with egg allergies, has only been in use since March when it was first approved for use in the UK.
"The vaccine is being recalled because these side effects have been reported more frequently with this specific batch," said a Baxter spokesmen. This spokesman also attempted to reassure the public that those who have already been vaccinated with Preflucel "should not be concerned (for their safety)."

More than three-fourths of the honey sold in U.S. grocery stores isn't exactly what the bees produce, according to testing done exclusively for Food Safety News.
The results show that the pollen frequently has been filtered out of products labeled "honey."
The removal of these microscopic particles from deep within a flower would make the nectar flunk the quality standards set by most of the world's food safety agencies.
The food safety divisions of the World Health Organization, the European Commission and dozens of others also have ruled that without pollen there is no way to determine whether the honey came from legitimate and safe sources.
